Hundreds of families in Cardiff and almost 2,000 families across Wales have signed up to get more active with the Welsh Government’s physical activity campaign, Games4Life Wales, and there are just four weeks left for families and community groups in to get their hands on their free activity packs.
The Games4Life Wales campaign is designed to encourage children aged 5 to 11 and their families to be more active each day, and hundreds of youngsters from Barry have registered already. The pack contains a fun wheel, 18 activity cards, a poster and stickers. Children are being encouraged to spin the wheel each day and play the game that they land on, helping them to keep active.
Deputy minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ken Skates, said: “I am delighted so many families in Wales have embraced Games4Life Wales and have made a commitment to improve their fitness. The Change4Life Wales Campaign has been a great success story for the Welsh Government and it is pleasing to see how its various facets have been embraced by families across the country. One of the keys to its success has been that the changes people are being encouraged to make are relatively small, simple changes that are easily incorporated into our daily lives – so they have become long-term good habits for many of us, which is the best possible scenario.”
The campaign runs until January 4th and everyone that signs up for an activity pack via www.change4lifewales.org.uk or www.newidamoes.org.uk will be in with the chance of winning one of 50 exciting prizes – everything from branded personalised trainers and family Cadw membership to Smart Watch pedometers.
Families can also upload their own short videos of them doing some of the Games4Life activities onto to the Change4Life Wales Facebook pages:www.facebook.com/C4LWales and www.facebook.com/NewidamOes
Games4Life is supported by Sport Wales, Welsh Gymnastics, Diverse Cymru, Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin and the Urdd.
