Ever get that feeling that there are lot more potential customers for you locally than you reach?
Our small business hero is looking for customers for his pet supplies business
1.He makes a list of the locations they might visit
Pet owners – park cafes, shops near parks, market halls with pet suppliers, vets, Pets R Us, cat and dog shows, agricultural shows, game fairs, kennels and catteries…. Great locations for flyers/stands
2.And what they might read: Free local lifestyles magazines, local papers, local websites, local facebook groups…. Pets fly on facebook…
3. He works out a typical customer avatar
A typical customer – retired, still active, reads Country Living, likes gardening, good food, fresh air…. Garden centres, artisan food shops and cafes.. they’d visit The Hours in Brecon and Wright’s Emporium in Carmarthen…
4. And how to communicate best with this customer
Pet news on facebook
Bulk buy discounts and special offers for e-mail customers
Profiles of customers pets on facebook…
He checks that it is really easy for customers to register their interest …
5. He asks himself what businesses share his customers – and approaches them to collaborate
So our hero pet supplier may meet a florist who she knows she shares customers with and they may have a facebook competition for pet with plant photos, a Plant and Pet evening event, where you can learn about plant remedies for pets, keeping plants pet friendly and how to keep both feeling and looking healthy…with of course plants and pet treats for sale…
We’re ecstatic to have found a real life example of combining a plant and pet theme in real life…
So over to you now to start thinking creatively about those local customers who are just dying to know about what you offer… and want you to reach them!
